ARCHIP Open House 2019
During ARCHIP’s Open House, our intern Sadie had the opportunity to drop in and check out a few of the Masters students’ concept presentations in the AD studio. As she sees it, there is no doubt that these students have some serious creativity as aspiring architects!
Open house is a great way for prospective applicants to see ARCHIP and gain a better understanding of the projects. It also gives students the chance to share their work with teachers and peers in the studios. To give some background on the presentations at open house, the students were assigned the same project but had the freedom to customize them however they’d like to in the scales given. The assignment also varies between first year, second year, and Master’s students.
Studio presentations help the audience see the project through the students’ eyes as they explain their work and provide visuals in their poster designs and 3D models. It was intriguing to see the unique concepts each student generated. The presentations really helped bring their concepts to life! The intricacy of these architectural projects goes to show how much thought and dedication go into architecture from living conditions, quality of space, and community viewpoints, for example.
While watching, it was very clear seeing the effectiveness of having both teacher and peer reviews on each individual’s work. Studios are an efficient way for students to receive feedback and any suggestions to help finalize their projects. If you missed Open House, you are still always welcome to visit us at ARCHIP!
For all prospective students: the deadline to apply for our BA or MA programs is March 31st, 2019. Click here to apply now!
