Nicki Jeong

How would you describe yourself in 5 words?
Playful, realist, chocoholic, creative, workaholic.
Tell us something about your country:
I was born and raised in Korea for the first 12 years of my life, but I moved to Thailand and lived there for the rest.
Since I feel more at home in Thailand, that’s what i’ll be talking about.
One thing I love about this beautiful country is the people. Everyone is always smiling and most of them live simple lives by their simple rules.
Although, as a Korean, there are some aspects (attitude wise) that i don’t get, just because i was raised differently, but after all, I’m Thai at heart.
Who is your favorite architect and why?
I can’t easily pick one as there are several amazing architects i admire, but I would say Tadao Ando. The sculptural look with pure concrete and simplicity with light effects always blow my mind.
Why did you decided to come to Prague?
My childhood dream was to live in Prague. I don’t know from when and where I got that idea, but it was always there and I have to say it is everything and beyond what i expected.
What’s better than a nice cheap beer everyday?
Favorite place in Prague:
There’s a huge concrete tower right by Strahov stadium. It’s nothing more than a viewpoint that looks down at the whole city, but that’s where I go to clear my head when i need a break. The view is amazing.
What is your ideal approach as a future architect?
Direct relationship with people and the environment is crucial. I like architecture that blends in with the surroundings.
Besides school, do you have another passion?
Music. Love playing and improvising. My goal is to establish an ARCHIP band for fellow music lovers.
