5 Architect Blogs & Podcasts You Should Follow
It is always important to stay up to date on the latest trends, especially in your field of work. For architecture students, following blogs and podcasts is an awesome way to keep yourself updated and seek inspiration from others! Whether you need to sit down and read or you’re on the go and have a pair of headphones to pop in, there’s sure to be an architecture blog or podcast out there that will be of interest to you. 1. Young Architect
Michael Riscia is an architect based out of Portland, Oregon. His blog focuses specifically on young, passionate architects that want to develop their careers. He gives tips on how to balance work, life, and academics (things that we can all use a little advice on every now and then!) He provides heaping amounts of information about studying and preparing for the ARE as well. This blogger also has a podcast section linked to his website, which is easy to listen to on the go!
2. Visualizing Architecture
Alex Hogrefe created his website while he was working towards his Masters in Architecture as a way of communicating with his professors, and he has now made it into a place for all of his compiled thoughts and work to share. His work consists of modern designs, and he provides detailed information on his thought processes in his creations including color schemes, furniture, and his photo filters. There is also a separate section on his website for tutorials that explain some of his techniques he has used in his undergraduate work.
Archispeak is a podcast hosted by Evan Troxel, Neal Pann and Cormac Phalen. They touch on all things architecture such as design, tools, balancing work and life, job hunting, and more. This bi-monthly podcast is a great way to tune into the thoughts of architects.
4. Stuck in Studio
Stuck in Studio is a website and blog for architecture students offering ways to connect with other architecture students and to take a break from your projects you’ve been working on nonstop! Their blog includes posts that focus on architecture from all over the world.
5. Monocle on Design: Section D
This podcast channel offers quick and concise content, which is perfect if you’re on the go. Monocle 24 uses interview-based reporters on topics such as the world of architecture, design, and even fashion. This podcast provides a clear way to get your brain thinking about these various topics.
