A Vision for Prague: Changes in the City, Chapter 2
This is a second debate in a series of talks dealing with the topic of the transformation of Prague and its different quarters. You will learn about the transformation of the capital city from 1920 to the present, and will be able to discuss these changes with respected experts. After the first talk which focused primarily on Prague's city centre, this debate will tackle also quartes like Hanspaulka, Ořechovka, Holešovice or Kobylisy. It will be held in DOX Centre for Contemporary art on Thursday, February 27 from 7 PM until 9 PM. This event is co-organized by our school.
The capital city of Prague was established in 1922 after 70 years of negotiations – this is also when 37 new municipalities joined the eight existing quarters. At this point in time, Prague had 676 thousand inhabitants. Today, there are 1.3 million Praguers living in 57 city districts. Will Prague continue to expand territorially?
The changes in Prague's quarters will be discussed by:
Václav Ledvinka (Archiv hl. m. Prahy)
Jiří Peňás (Echo24)
Jan Sedlák (FA ČVUT)
And moderated by:
Ing. Regina Loukotová, Ph.D. (ARCHIP)
Everybody is welcome to join and the entry is free. Find the event on Facebook for more information.
