I WELCOME: Anne Enright, Matteo Pericoli & Marek Šindelka
A discussion with Anne Enright, one of the most prominent contemporary Irish writers and Man Booker Prize winner, Italian architect Matteo Pericoli, and Czech writer Marek Šindelka on the topic of the current refugee crisis.
The event is part of the world premiere of the I WELCOME project, in which leading writers and illustrators from twelve countries from around the world express themselves through stories and illustrations regarding the I Welcome Refugees campaign.
ANNE ENRIGHT is a leading contemporary Irish writer. Her books often deal with coming to terms with Ireland’s troubled past. He has been awarded the Man Booker Prize and the prestigious Rooney Prize for Irish Literature. In 2015 she was named the Laureate for Irish fiction.
MATTEO PERICOLI is an Italian architect and artist, whose ambitions projects can be seen throughout the world. He is the author of Skyline of the World, a 121 m long wall painting at JFK Airport in New York. He is currently working on an artistic interpretation of the cosmology of Dante’s Divine Comedy.
MAREK ŠINDELKA is a Czech writer, poet, and scriptwriter. In 2006 he was awarded the Jiří Orten Award for poetry for his debut, Strychnine and Other Poems (Strychnin a jiné básně). In 2016 he was awarded the Magnesia Litera Award for his novel Material Fatigue (Únava materiálu), which was inspired by the stories of refugees.
