ATMO – Young Artists Showcase
ARCHIP has teamed up with a collective of young artists from the Czech Republic and we are preparing an exhibition to showcase their best works in August.
We are delighted to support these talented youngsters and we are looking forward to collaborating with as many talented individuals as possible.
The exhibition is opened from 8th August to 24th August at ARCHIP’s upper floor – every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 14:00 to 17:00. Entrance is free.
About the exhibition:
This exhibition presents works of young talented artists, capturing the current phase of their artistic development. It expresses support towards their work while, at the same time, giving them an opportunity to examine the public’s response to their art. Their work is exhibited in a relaxed atmosphere so as to attract not only a knowledgeable crowd but also people who are not necessarily interested in art or art events.
Only a handful of artists is selected – three Czech students Antonie Stanová, Samuel Stano and Luisa Bělohlávková, and one Polish student who is based in Glasgow Natalia Poniatowska. Since they are given a vast space to exhibit in, the artists are each able to show a variety of their work – even a couple of series or phases of their artistic creation. The event further serves as an opportunity to expand ones horizons as in it, local and foreign artists are collaborating. Although the artists work in a range of different media (painting, photography, work with textiles, creamics and porcelain) their works have in common the fact that they primarily play with the emotionality of the viewer; nostalgia, softness and tenderness are some words that could be used to describe the artworks.
Mina Zybartas, the curator of this exhibition, is close in age to the exhibited artists. At the moment, she is studying History of Art in the UK. She considers it meaningful to introduce young unestablished artists whose work, in her eyes, has potential and deserves more attention.
