End of Year on aVOID

May 28 , 2025

This semester’s nominations and winners of the GoRo award were announced during the end-of-semester-party on the aVOID gallery. In the hull of a ship at Vytoň at the foot of Vyšehrad, students faculty and alumni celebrated the semester.

The jury appreciated the overall high standard of work across all studios, each of which demonstrated a serious commitment to architectural thinking, spatial experimentation, and contemporary relevance. Guided by the broad theme of Mobility, the studios explored diverse interpretations — from physical movement to symbolic journeys. Both of which are undergoing changes in today’s and perhaps future understanding and means.

Comments from the Jury:

We considered first and foremost the difficulty and complexity of each brief, as well as how compelling and resonant the answers to chosen themes were — whether they addressed and offered answers to relevant issues of today and tomorrow. When evaluating the projects, we took into consideration a chain of factors: our possibility to understand where and what the project is, how it interacts with its surroundings, what is it made of, for what purpose and for whom, with what motivation, and what was the reasoning behind the concept. And we have tried our best to judge all of these factors with the students’ experience in mind. Ten projects made it into our border selection, out of which we have chosen five nominees who impressed us for different reasons, and eventually one winner.
