Summer School 2026
…immerse yourself between Transparency and Tension
in Prague’s city centre and surroundings…
July 20 – July 31
This year’s Summer School explores how two materials — glass and concrete — each with a distinct tradition, character, and expressive power, can meet in a single architectural experiment.
Through lectures, guided tours, and hands-on workshops, participants will discover Czech glassmaking alongside the craftsmanship and innovation of concrete construction, from stained-glass interiors and artistic installations to remarkable concrete structures and architectural details.
Set in Prague — where Gothic, Cubist, and modern architecture intersect — the workshop becomes a laboratory of tradition and innovation, past and future.
- Architecture has always balanced between lightness and mass, between the visible and the hidden. Glass and concrete embody these extremes: one transparent and delicate yet enduring, the other solid, opaque, and defined by its weight.
- Throughout the programme, we will encounter not only architecture itself but also the artworks, craft traditions, and material techniques that contribute to the creation of holistic spaces.
Led by Jakub Kopecký and Jerry Koza, with the support of the ARCHIP team and T?F.
In the first phase, visits to studios, workshops, museums, and architectural landmarks will reveal the craft, technology, and innovation behind both glass and concrete.
In the second phase, participants will design and build a series of experimental models combining glass and concrete. Through material testing and prototyping, they will explore transparency and opacity, weight and lightness, structure and material expression, ultimately leading to the creation of a 1:1 architectural installation.
The price of the Summer School 2026 is EUR 1,500 (covering all material expenses, guided tours, entry fees, lectures, instructors, use of ARCHIP facilities, and related programme costs; accommodation is not included).
The application deadline for the Summer School 2026 is 17 April 2026.
