ARCHIP - KSA 2027
…architecture, culture, and city-making across two continents…
in Saudi Arabia & Prague, Czech Republic
6 Weeks — July–August (exact dates to be confirmed)
This immersive study abroad program brings together architecture, urban design, and planning students for six weeks of cross-cultural collaboration, hands-on studio work, and international exchange — between the rapidly transforming cities of Saudi Arabia and the layered urban fabric of Prague.
The program is grounded in a simple belief: that the best architects learn by walking, making, mapping, and reflecting — and by doing so in places that challenge their assumptions.
The ARCHIP–KSA curriculum offers a hybrid learning experience that combines classroom instruction, expert-led field visits, hands-on workshops, and a graded studio project. The program is aligned with relevant academic curricula and supports the issuance of a course completion certificate.
Week 1 — 6
Orientation and contextual grounding. Students explore
architecture as a tool for community well-being, complete a community mapping
exercise, and establish a shared ethical and conceptual foundation for the
weeks ahead.
Prague becomes the classroom. Students read the city through
sketching, mental mapping, and guided walks before launching a studio project
centered on a public space or civic facility. The project evolves through
participatory design methods, hands-on prototyping, AI-assisted design tools,
and desk critiques with ARCHIP faculty — culminating in a public final jury in
Week 5.
Students adapt their Prague-based projects to a Saudi
context, reflect on cultural contrasts and professional responsibility, and
present their work in a public exhibition or symposium.
A certificate of completion is issued to all participants.
Program fee: to be determined (includes studio space,
site visits, tour guides, on-site coordination, and lead instructor support —
excludes visa, flights, accommodation, and meals).
The program is designed for a cohort of 20–30 participants:
undergraduate students (Years 1–5), postgraduate students, and early-career
professionals with up to three years of experience.
