Summer School 2026
…immerse yourself between Transparency and Tension
in Prague’s city centre and surroundings…
July 20 – July 31
This year’s summer school will explore how two materials — glass and foil membranes — with distinct traditions and expressive power — can meet in a single architectural experiment.
Through lectures, tours, and hands-on sessions, participants will discover Czech glassmaking alongside tensile membrane structures, from stained-glass interiors to lightweight pavilions.
Set in Prague — where Gothic, Cubist, and modern architecture intersect — the workshop becomes a laboratory of tradition and innovation, past and future.
- Architecture has always balanced between lightness and solidity, between the visible and the hidden. Glass and membrane foil embody these extremes: one fragile yet enduring, the other flexible and defined by tension. Together, they open new paths for contemporary design.
- We will encounter not only the architecture itself but also the artworks and craft elements used to create holistic spaces.
Led by Jakub Kopecký and Jerry Koza, supported by ARCHIP team.
In the first phase, visits to studios, museums, and landmarks will reveal the craft and innovation behind both glass and membrane architecture.
In the second phase, participants will design and build models from foil inspired by glass, testing elasticity, transparency, and balance, leading to a 1:1 pavilion.
The Price of the Summer School 2026 is EUR 1500 (covers all material expenses, guided tours, entry fees, lectures, lectors, ARCHIP premises etc., without accommodation).
The deadline for your application for the Summer School is 17.04.2026.
