Architecture as a common language across cultures

ARCHIP has participated in the international online exhibition SAWH Online Exhibition 2026, titled Translations. The exhibition officially launched on July 8, 2026, and is publicly available online on the SAWH network’s website, which is coordinated by the University of Edinburgh. The project connects architecture schools from several European countries and showcases various approaches to education, research, and topics related to architecture and cultural heritage.

This year’s exhibition is dedicated to the theme Translations, which explores the transmission of meaning across different languages, disciplines, cultures, and generations. The theme demonstrates how cultural heritage can not only be preserved but also reinterpreted and its significance sought in the contemporary world. Seven architecture schools collaborating within the SAWH network participated in the exhibition; their contributions present diverse perspectives on contemporary architectural practice and education.

ARCHIP’s long-term international partnership in the SAWH network

ARCHIP has been part of the SAWH network for more than ten years and regularly participates in its educational activities. Long-term collaboration with partner schools creates opportunities for sharing experiences, fostering international dialogue, and comparing different approaches to architecture, the preservation of cultural heritage, and its contemporary interpretation.

“ARCHIP’s participation in the international SAWH exhibition is an important opportunity to be part of broader European academic collaboration and to share experiences with partner architecture schools. We greatly value our long-term partnership within the SAWH network, which opens up opportunities for international dialogue and professional development for both students and faculty,” says Regina Loukotová, rector of ARCHIP.

SAWH continues international exchange of experiences

The SAWH 2026 Online Exhibition builds on the previous activities of this international network and reaffirms the importance of long-term collaboration among architecture schools. The organizers have also announced the theme for the next edition of the SAWH Online Exhibition 2027, which will be Time.
